Dr Tuan Nguyen is an Assistant Curator at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. His curatorial practice is guided by a concern to reflect diverse social and community histories, create powerful experiences and effect change: in the ‘Zampatti Powerhouse’ (2022) and ‘Absolutely Queer’ (2023) exhibitions, he used the lenses of fashion and creativity respectively to amplify the voices of women and the queer community. His collection acquisitions have been wide-ranging across the areas of social history, design, architecture, fashion, applied arts and LGBTQIA+ communities, all united by a drive to communicate social significance for a broad audience. Tuan holds a PhD in Museum Studies—his research focusing on LGBTQIA+ inclusion—which he combines with a storytelling- and relationship-focused curatorial practice.
